Lerch Bates Promotes Derek Groenwoldt To Regional Manager, Chicago, Elevator Consulting Group

Groenwoldt_DerekLerch Bates, the world’s oldest and largest international consulting firm for vertical transportation, façade access and logistics, has promoted Derek Groenwoldt to regional manager, Chicago, Elevator Consulting Group. Groenwoldt joined Lerch Bates in 2012 as a project manager in the Chicago Regional Office. Groenwoldt joined Lerch Bates in 2012 as project manager, elevator consulting group, in Chicago.

Groenwoldt has more than 13 years of comprehensive experience with elevators and escalators and with professional services firms in the building industry. In his new role, he will report directly to Lerch Bates Vice President Eric Rupe and will oversee the office new construction, modernization and maintenance management elevator consulting functions of the Chicago office. Groenwoldt, in his previous role with Lerch Bates, supported the company’s regional operations by providing vertical transportation consulting services for new installation designs, maintenance, due diligence and modernization projects with a particular focus on domestic and international new design projects.

Prior to joining Lerch Bates, Groenwoldt worked as district manager, project management, for Schindler in Chicago and the surrounding area. He managed a team of project managers and personally oversaw all of the large projects valued in excess of $2 million. He served as a project manager and account manager for the company prior to his role as district manager, project management. Groenwoldt also worked for Otis Elevator as an associate superintendent before being promoted to superintendent and then project manager, modernization. Groenwoldt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied science and technology with an emphasis in nuclear engineering and a MBA from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
